Thiruvananthapuram : Kerala's IT sector will create as many as 2,00,000 jobs in the next five years,The state Chief Secretary, Neela Gangadharan said yesterday.While Inaugurating a conference on 'IT' in Kerala - Challenges & Opportunities organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry-( CII ) here,and also said that over 200 rural IT-Parks are expected to start up in the state in next 2 to 3 yrs.
The meeting includes some leading IT experts in the state asking the state government to brand Kerala as an 'IT' destination. S.D. Shibulal-chief operating officer , Infosys Technologies L.t.d, forced the need for quality education and finishing skills and also he added that Kerala has to become more attractive for people from not just within Kerala but from outside to work and live comfortably. So Branding has to take place for this.
V.K. Mathews, the convenor of CII Kerala State Council's IT-panel & CMD, IBS group, pointed on the fact that IT is different from the traditional industrial sectors and also added -It is the need of the hour for people to accept 'IT' the way it is and create pro-active policies to bring up the growth of this unique sector.
State IT secretary Ajay Kumar said, that the state has been witnessing a period of growth with software export's growing almost 3 times the national average. The Kerala Government is to invest Rs.2000 - 3000 crore (Rs.20-30 billion) in e-governance initiatives.and also said that The government has accorded thrust for investment during the global recession.
